Dear prospective students and parents,

Have you ever felt neglected by your teachers in school? Have you ever felt that maybe with a little more attention that B could have turned into a B+ or an A? Well, I am here to give you that little extra attention you've been seeking in school. I have worked in special education high school for the last two years as a paraprofessional and have a great sense for how our students learn in today's world. It can be overwhelming and difficult to be put on the spot in a classroom filled with your peers. It can also be difficult for a teacher to give all of his or her students an extended amount of attention in a short classroom period. This is where I come in! As a paraprofessional my duties begin with one on one work with a student that needs that extra attention. I am required to modify and adapt a teacher's lesson so that my specific student will understand it in their own way. Learning is an important and special facet in life and requires a caring hand to guide students through the process. The major aspect of a student's learning that I have come to understand and appreciate is how different each student is from one another and how uniquely each student learns. No one method works for every single student and that is a wonderful thing! Diversity amongst the learning experience is marvelous!

Of course as a future teacher, I have my own standards and beliefs that I will be overseeing and implementing throughout my career. I believe all students must have some reading and writing abilities in order to be truly successful in life. My goal is to help them harness those skills. I will give them the patience, diligence and extra attention they may not receive in school. Every student learns differently and I will tutor each student based upon their specific needs! As a paraprofessional, I have worked in Social Studies, English, Speech therapy, and Italian classes. I graduated from LIU Post with a degree in English Writing. I also attained my minor in Sociology and have taken 12 credit hours in both History and Italian (I was also born in Italy and am a native speaker. I can assist in reading and writing as well.) I am currently working on my first of two master's degrees. My current degree will be in Adolescent Education grades 7-12 in the field of English. I will also attain my certification to teach special education from grades 1-12. My projected finish for this degree will be May of 2015.

I hope you will consider me as a potential tutor for you or your child. I am here to assist in any way possible to the best of my abilities. American History

I was social studies major in college with my focus in American and World History, prior to changing my studies to English. I have two years of classes in college. I have also taken AP classes in both subjects in high school.


I was a pitcher and second baseman throughout high school. I can teach positioning and some pitching mechanics.

Bible Studies

I took a full year of bible studies in high school. I have read the bible cover to cover and can understand and explain some of the cryptic messages.


Prior to an injury, I worked at a gym advising people about certain exercises. I was a hockey player through college and went through rigorous training, which I have translated into the gym as insane regimens that will change your body!


I come from a long line of chefs. I am the first person in my family not to become a professional chef. However, the talent is in my blood and I frequently cook and express my creativity in the kitchen. I received half scholarships to culinary schools based solely on my cooking.


I have a degree in English: writing, and have taken many courses in literature. I have a good understanding of middle and high school literature and grammar.


I was a running back in high school for a season. I can teach the schematics of running the ball!


As an English writing major in college at least 80% of my work involved grammar. No excellent piece of writing can exist without near flawless execution of grammar. I simplify and teach grammar to the students I work with in the school I work in. I believe I can mirror those methods in my tutoring.


I was born in Naples, Italy and Italian is the first language I speak at home. I can also read and write. I can teach introductory high school Italian with great confidence.


My degree in English writing, required me to read and be well versed in many different types of literatures. I received an award during my undergraduate career for Excellence in Comparative Literature. I believe my knowledge in literature can translate well in tutoring my students.

Proofreading is a monster aspect of writing! Far too often students write and neglect to reread what they have written. Far too often do teachers see "Johnny want running." Microsoft word will recognize want as spelled correctly and may not acknowledge the mistake, which leaves the sentence alone. Without the student realizing, he or she will hand it in and a silly mistake will be made. I will be able to tutor my students to catch these simple and silly mistakes. Like in cooking, proofreading is the "tender, love and care" portion of the recipe!

Public Speaking

Working in a school for disabled students requires concise and well sculpted speaking abilities. The students hinge on your every word and it is important not to be afraid and to speak with pure confidence. During October many of the students run for student government, which requires speaking in public. Every year I am assigned to a students campaign and I assist in teaching the student how to speak confidently and unafraid. I can help tutor my students by sharing my experience and explaining the techniques I use to get over his or her fear of speaking in public. I am confident that I can help students confidently and proudly speak in public!


A key component in my studies as an undergraduate was reading. I have read various styles of literature, journals, and articles. I feel confident that I can tutor my students to read not only for fun, but for comprehension and precision so that they understand and appreciate what they are reading. I have experience teaching reading from a kindergarten to third grade level, and at a high school level. Based on the students I work with now, my disabled students read at extremely low levels. However, a few read at a high school level and need help comprehending what they are reading. I believe I will be able to translate this into my tutoring.


I have studied religion since I was seven years old. In high school, I underwent four years of rigorous religious study. I also studied buddhism in college!


I've played soccer since I was five years old. I've played in competitive leagues and have been an assistant coach for my sister's soccer team for many years.

Social Studies

I worked as a paraprofessional in a high school social studies classroom for two years. It was the classroom I spent the most time in. I was also a social studies major in college before I switched to english.


A pivotal aspect of reading is understanding vocabulary. This is also important in writing and in test taking. With my degree in English writing, I spent a lot of time fine tuning my appendix of vocabulary words. I feel confident that I will be able to tutor my students in the learning, comprehending and retaining of new and old vocabulary words that will assist them in school and in life.

World History

My undergraduate degree is in writing. I can help my students with anything from writing a simple sentence to constructing a beautiful poem or even writing a well formed essay. I earned a 3.8 GPA in the writing aspect of my degree.


I have been trained by Anne Buckley in a program called Get Ready To Learn, which is a school based yoga therapy. I led daily yoga sessions with students at the Cooke Center Academy.
