I have taught KIndergarten in Kenya where I was a class teacher for twenty four year olds. I am patient and kind with children.

Having good English skills is a key to advancement both socially and professionally. This need not be difficult with a systematic and gradual approach to improvement using writing and reading exercises. I believe in making learning English fun so the student is eager to learn more and more.

I studied ESL at Humber College in Canada. When I graduated, I was hired back by the same College to teach composition to ESL students. I enjoy the challenge of getting students to improve their English skills and seeing them gain more confidence.

I have taught grammar for years to both ESL and native American students. I use drills and exercises but also make students see the grammar mistakes in their own writing. Students can be intimidated by grammar, but it can be fun and practice makes perfect.

Literature is one of life's great pleasures, a fact that is often forgotten in this world of tests and exams. Not only can I help you do better on the tests but you will learn to enjoy reading the great books that are part of our cultural heritage.

I have worked as a magazine editor where I proofread many articles to weed out spelling and grammar mistakes. I have aslo taught composition and helped my students learn how to proofread their work more efficiently.

I make all my students read novels and newspapers until it becomes part of their daily lives. I can help you improve your reading skills by teaching skills like pre-reading, skimming for content and understanding the main points of the reading. It is very gratifying when students tell me they never realized that reading can be so much fun.

SAT Reading

I am familiar with the reading part of the SAT and have helped students improve their reading comprehension skills and learn how to read quickly and efficiently.

SAT Writing

I am familiar with the SAT writing requirements and can help students improve their essay skills. I have decades of experience helping students to write more interesting and focussed essays.

Improving your vocabulary and your spelling go hand in hand. I believe it can be fun to learn new words and spell them correctly.

I am familiar with the TOEFL test and can help students improve their scores. I have years of experience teaching ESl and that helps me relate to students' difficulties with the test.

I have a passion for teaching vocabulary as I believe a stronger vocabulary enhances one's speaking and writing ability.

When I teach writing, I demystify it by breaking down an assignment into smaller parts; brainstorming for a topic, freewriting a first draft and then editing that draft. This process makes writing an assignment less intimidating.
