PhD in education: preK to adult, all subjects, ESL,special needs

I'm an entry level PhD psychologist who just moved from Austin, TX looking to earn extra money while I search for a volunteer postdoc that works with my family obligations. I have two children, 8 and 5.

I have taught ESL in NYC, Japan and Taiwan. I also have taught middle school in NYC. My experience with tutoring started in graduate school where I tutored college students with ADHD and on sports teams in a variety of subjects including: study skills, psychology, human sciences, and mathematics.

My psychological specialty is with children including: ADHD, Autism spectrum, OCD, and Tourette's and combinations thereof. I have a PhD in Psychology. I have taught college courses and trained in educational research and best practices.

I also have been certified to teach K-12 in NYC schools.

Algebra 1

I have been certified to teach K-12 in the NYC schools through the Teach for America program. Additionally, I have taken many upper-level math classes in my PhD graduate program which include: Quantitative methodology of behavioral data I and II and Multivariate analysis of behavioral data.

Biology

In my undergraduate coursework I took biology classes which include: Biochemistry in modern science, biological organisms and populations, physiological psychology, neurochemistry and behavior, and developmental psychobiology. I worked in a physiological psychology lab and a perception lab.

In my graduate PhD program I took a survey of biological psychology and wrote my master's thesis on Quantitative EEG.

Vocabulary

I am a freelance writer for professional journals. Additional, I have written two books in the form of my master's these and dissertation.

Grammar

I have worked as an ESL teacher and am able to explain the complicated English grammar in an easily understood way.

Microsoft Word

I have used Microsoft Word since the word processing program's inception. I have used it as an administrative assistant, a development specialist, and written both a thesis and dissertation using the program.

Prealgebra

Having taken advanced math classes in undergraduate and graduate school, I feel that I would comfortable be able to explain the mathematical concepts involved in prealgebra.

Reading

I am a proficient reader and have taught reading to middle school kids. Additionally, I have read many journal articles and needed to summarize large quantities of information while writing my master's thesis and PhD dissertation.

I have studied and taken the GRE myself and scored a high enough score to enter a PhD graduate program and earn my degree.

GED

I have been certified to teach in the NYC school to teach grades K-12. I have acquired knowledge in all subject areas and am able to explain that knowledge in a simple and easily understandable manner.

SAT Reading

I did extremely well on the SAT reading section. I have learned to quickly read and summarize large volumes of information while writing my master's and dissertation.

SAT Writing

I am a freelance writer for professional psychological journals. I have written both a master's these and a PhD dissertation.

TOEFL

Having taught ESL in NYC, Japan and Taiwan and having written both a master's thesis and PhD dissertation, I feel I have an excellent command of both the oral and written English language. Thus, I am qualified to teach foreigners how to study for the TOFL.

PSAT

Having done well on the SAT to qualify for Binghamton University, I believe I would easily be able to explain the concepts involved in the PSAT.

Elementary Math

I have been certified to teach K-12 through the Teach for America program. In my undergraduate and PhD graduate coursework I have taken statistical analysis and design, quantitative methodology I and II and multivariate analysis.

Elementary Science

Having been certified to teach grades K-12, I have taught science to middle school children. As a graduate student, I have taught human sciences to lecture hall classes.

Elementary (K-6th)

While completing my PhD in school psychology, I took courses such as America in the Schools, Learning and Conditioning, Human Growth and Development. I also had joined the Teach for America teaching corp and was certified to teach K-12th in the NYC school system.

Study Skills

I have taught college courses and trained in educational research and best study practices.

Special Needs

Having worked as a special education teacher and a school psychologist in the schools, I have worked with many special needs students including those with mental retardation, learning disability, OCD, Tourette's, ADHD, and Autism.

Career Development

Besides studying graduate courses in motivation and personality theories, I have a worked as a head hunter for executives and in a high school setting working with students to find what careers best suit them. I've used the Myer's Briggs personality test to screen for personality types and give them examples of professions that suit that personality type. I've also used the What color is my parachute book to do something similar.

ADD/ADHD

I have earned a PhD in Psychology in 2005. With my doctorate, I have worked in the school systems assessing children with ADHD and helping teachers find the best accommodations for these students needs. I use the Achenbach behavior checklists as well as the Conner's ADHD checklist given to parents and teachers to make my diagnosis. Autism

Sociology

In graduate school I took a course in sociology called Survey in Social psychology and have taught psychology 101 at the college level, which covered sociology. Also, my dissertation was looking at identity and cultural issues and I needed to ready many sociological journal articles for my literature review.
