I am an agent of change who appreciates any opportunity to increase my student’s academic performance. For 1 year, I taught an ESL second-level adult writing class with the Community Impact Program located at Columbia University. For the last 5 years, I have been an academic professional with the Liberty Partnership Program, located at Queensbrough Community College in Queens, NY. The program supports the academic, social and emotional needs of youth between the ages of 14-17. My professional/academic effort begins every Saturday for two hours at the college. I am the Youth Development Coach. I help with the formation of cover letters and resumes/curriculum vitae. In addition, I teach professional interviewing skills, which are practiced by students at the annual mock job interview. I am currently employed with a governmental agency that supports and protect children who are living within the 5 boroughs of New York City.

As an agent of change, I continue to teach and mentor children with learning and emotional disabilities. I have tutored children in English, writing and language arts. Through the implementation of patience, creativity and consistency a child can learn. I do understand that sometimes it takes more than just two steps to get a child on the road to success. My learning approach is simple. Active learning is defined as learning environments that allow students to talk and listen, read, write, and reflect as they approach course content through problem-solving exercises, informal small groups, simulations, case studies, role playing, and other activities -- all of which require students to apply what they are learning.
