I am a current NYC public school teacher - available for tutoring middle school students in math.

I'm patient and try to make math fun, and as a teacher I understand that students have different learning styles - I can teach to those. I've taught math across grades 6-8 in Manhattan, the Bronx and currently Queens.

I can help your child with any/all middle school math concepts/skills and help prepare them for the state tests and unit tests (which their math teachers give).

Please contact me to find out more about how I can help your child become more successful in math and build confidence.

Matt’s subjects

Homeschool:
Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Prealgebra
Math:
Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Linear Algebra, Prealgebra

Algebra 1

In Algebra 1, you'll gain proficiency in computation with rational numbers by firstly understanding the real number system. Next, you'll begin to solve 'real world' word problems by using variables and breaking down the problem into parts.

You'll learn many new concepts including:

1. How to solve one and two-step equations
2. How to solve inequalities
3. How to graph linear equations
4. How to simplify algebraic expressions (with/without exponents) including monomials and polynomials by factoring
5. How to solve systems of equations
6. How to complete function tables and graph a function

There is a lot of vocabulary that is learned during Algebra 1 and I can help you understand and remember both definitions and the situations they apply.

Algebra 2

In Algebra 2, you'll gain proficiency in computation with rational numbers by firstly understanding the real number system.
