I am a NY State Certified Teacher/ABA therapist. I have a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a master's degree in Special Education and am trained in Applied Behavior Analysis. I work with children and adults with learning disabilities and behavioral issues.

I have over 10 years of experience studying and teaching subjects including: Reading, English, Philosophy, and Study Skills. Students range from Pre-K to Adult.

Telephone or web-based initial consultations are free of charge, during which we can discuss any current issues and needs of the student. Standard sessions are 50 to 60 minutes in length, depending upon the age of the student and whether sessions will include parental discussions.

I am based in Queens, NY, and work on Long Island as well. I can provide several background checks: Department of Education, Department of Investigations, and Department of Mental Health. Vocabulary

Tutoring students for over 10 years in the subject of reading. I have helped students improve: spelling, grammar, comprehension, and vocabulary. Within the subject of reading, my favorite subtopics are phonics and vocabulary.

Reading

I have ten years of tutoring and teaching experience working with children in the subject of reading.

I have worked with children in special education and mainstream classes. I can work in the areas of creative writing, reading comprehension, phonetic awareness, spelling, English grammar/usage and building vocabulary, organization, and study skills.

English

I have experience helping children in English with book reports, and term papers. I have extensive experience helping elementary school age children with Reading and Spelling.

Psychology

I am certified in Special Education and ABA therapy, which is a study and/or approach under the umbrella of Behavioral Psychology. I have taken coursework in psychology as well.

I have been providing therapy to children with disabilities and providing family training as well.

I also work directly with specific behaviors that may prevent learning such as poor study habits and organization skills.

Philosophy

My major in College was Philosophy.

I was and am very serious about this work and very interested in this subject.
It is a subject that I did very well in and would love to help anyone who needs assistance.

Phonics

I worked as a paraprofessional for the Board of Education with specific learning disabilities. I have also taught students with specific learning disabilities including ADD,ADHD and Dyslexia.
Using various programs to focus in on letter order, word analysis, and teaching phonemic awareness including fundamental letter sounds... reading would be more enjoyable and effective.

Study Skills

I have worked with children in special needs and in mainstream education. I have come across many students who didn't know how to study or were very disorganized with their work. As I have become more experienced working with various behavioral issues, I have also helped students correct poor study habits.
