I have Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University (with a lot of courses in physics), an MBA from Stanford University, and a Doctorate in Management, Marketing, and Finance from Pace University. I also have an honorary Doctorate from the Siberian State Aerospace University in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, at which I worked and taught courses for nineteen years in a relationship that was started by the U.S. Department of State.
I taught college courses for 28 years -- the first 17 of those years on a part-time basis as an adjunct, while I worked full-time as a corporate executive in technology-based companies. I began full-time teaching in 1999, retiring with tenure from SUNY Oneonta in 2005 and moved on to teach five years at St. John Fisher College before finally stopping my full-time teaching.

As for Word, I have used it for over twenty years, going through the many upgrades. I currently am using Word 2010. When I say "use," I mean that I write many reports and journal papers, etc. Use it every day. As for Excel, I use that for my financial planning and used it in my courses on operations management. Have used it for more than twenty years. PowerPoint is a necessity for me in preparing presentations, which I do many times a year. Have used PowerPoint for over twenty years as well.
My experience with SPSS began more than 40 years ago, and I still use it with students I tutor and in journal publications I have submitted. I own a personal copy of SPSS and some add-ons, such as AMOS.
When I was a student at the Stanford Business School, I consulted to doctoral students on their dissertations, performing calculations using SPSS (on the mainframe at that time). I assisted two people -- one was a new professor who was ABD and finishing up her dissertation in psychology for a doctorate from Yale University and the other was doing his dissertation in education for a doctorate from Stanford University.

I served as editor of the proceedings of the European Council for Business Education (ECBE) for three years.
