In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a degree in Medical Illustration. I am also a professional Medical Illustrator. I have experience in surgical, molecular, and microbiological illustration I am able to demonstrate and clarify concepts in the subject of Anatomy through visual aids and experiential lessons. With my expertise and guidance, I am able to help students pass coursework in Anatomy.
I have many years of training in Art and Art History. I attended Monroe Community where I majored in Fine Art. I graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in the Graduate Department of Medical Illustration. I have completed studies in Art History, History of Interior Design, History of Anatomical Illustration, History of Surgical Illustration and History of Modern Art. I am extensively trained and experienced in Fine Art, Design and Illustration. I also have experience in archival photograph restoration. Finally I have over 18 years of experience in the field of education.
I have a Master's degree in Medical Illustration. I have taught biology in grades 4 through 12. I am able to explain and demonstrate concepts in biology. I have helped many students pass their exams for biology both in their course work and in standardized testing like Regents exams.
I have extensive education and experience in the field of art and design.
I am close to completing my Masters Degree in Medical Illustration at
Rochester Institute of Technology.
My studies have also included intensive education in Biology.
So I feel I am qualified in this area as well.
I have worked as a classroom teacher in residential settings for students at the second through seventh grade level. I have also taught at a day treatment facility for students at the second through fifth grade level. I have worked as a resource teacher on a pull out basis for students in the 4th through 6th grade level. I also substitute taught for many years though out the Rochester, NY area.
I have taught phonics to special needs students from primary level through high school level for many years. I have worked with students in recognizing concepts such as vowel sounds, vowel combinations, diphthongs, consonant blends, digraphs, decoding multi-syllable words, decoding words with prefixes and suffixes.
I am able to demonstrate and clarify concepts in the subject of Physiology through visual aids and experiential lessons. With my expertise and guidance, I am able to help students pass coursework in Physiology.
I have extensive experience in English, Writing,and classroom teaching. I have been trained and educated in effective public speech, rhetoric, persuasive argument, and humor.
I have taught in self contained classes and resource rooms as a Special Education teacher. In addition I have over 20 years of experience.
My area of expertise has been working with students with learning challenges, including students in grades 1 through 8 in all academic areas, including reading, writing and math.
My students respond well to my caring and direct approach. With my help, they are able to succeed in reaching their academic goals.
I have worked to prepare students in grades 5 through college level for various tests, including Regents exams and college exams. I have worked to help my students complete class requirements. My experience in this area of education has been in the classroom setting, in resource rooms and as a tutor.
