I have worked in the education field for 15 years as a special education and reading teacher. My approach is student centered. I design tutoring sessions to focus on the learning style of the students, to encourage students to challenge themselves and to work beyond their zone of development. All students can learn; the key is the approach taken to learn the required material. Students need to learn at their own pace and within their learning style. My job is to develop lessons that are engaging, interactive, and on the students' learning level. My goal is to expand students' knowledge base, to encourage a desire in students to become life-long learners and to increase students' independence, self-reliance and motivation. I will help people of any age to improve his/her skills in the desired subject area.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Special Needs

My Bachelor of Science degree is in Special Education: Kindergarten through Twelfth grade. I have 15 years of teaching experience mainly in the Special Education setting. Working with students with a variety of ability levels, I have developed a tool bag of methods for acquiring and retaining information. My greatest asset is my belief that all students can learn and achieve success given the time to learn at their own pace, and provided with instruction at their level as well as within their learning style.
