I am a recent college graduate who has just been admitted to the University of Pennsylvania (Perelman) School of Medicine through the early decision process :). I spent my undergraduate career majoring in Biology
and Public Health. During my time in college, I received no greater joy than helping others succeed in their educational endeavors. I remember specifically, at one point, being referred to as the "Calculus
God". My love for mathematics was so innate and so intimate that I started a mathematics club at Hunter College, where students could give and receive help in Calculus 1, Calculus 2 and Calculus 3, Trigonometry
, Basic Algebra
, Advanced Algebra, Geometry
and last but not least Quantitative Analysis!
Although my past experiences tutoring have been centered upon helping college students perform better in their classes, I do believe I have the aptitude and patience to work with individuals of all age groups. Three years ago, I worked for the NYCDOH as a Nutritional Counselor/ Health Educator where I dealt with individuals of all ages who suffered from Obesity Diabetes and Hypertension. This experience allowed me to counsel, mentor and educate; all of which, I will use to help you succeed.
I can tutor specific MCAT
topics, strategies to excel
on the test and Physics
, Organic Chemistry
, Biology, Calculus 1-3, Chemistry
and Math Regents
Networking (CISCO), Trigonometry, Geometry, Basic and Advanced Algebra.
The main reason why my methods work and why I'm different from the others tutors on WyzAnt is because I know first-hand what it's like to struggle. In my High School years, I was a bright individual but did not have anyone to facilitate the information in a way that I could understand. So I spent an exorbitant amount of time simplifying everything I could to mitigate the difficulties of courses like Physics and Organic Chemistry. Ultiimately, I believe that no matter what the topic, there is a simple underlying concept that must be discovered in order to dissolve or appreciate the complexity of the topic (Get it? Dissolved? Ha).
By following the aforementioned principle, I was able to score a 35 (12BS 10VR 13PS) on the MCAT. Some may consider the MCAT to be the hardest standardized test in America (With good reason!), but personally, the MCAT is more bark than bite. Most people become intimidated by the complex jargon and the never ending passages that they become oblivious to the actual question at hand. They lose confidence, they end up feeling pressured and as a result, end up circling a wrong answer when they KNEW the answer all along. This is one of the ways that I will help you improve your grades in any subject- by building confidence and training you to march your way through COMPLEX city and into the sweet lands of SIMPLEOPOLIS.
If you have any questions about what topics I can tutor, any tips or tricks to do well on GMAT
, MCAT, or GRE
, REGENTS or TOEFL
feel free to contact me via WyzAnt; I will be sure to answer your question at my earliest convenience (which is typically within 24 hours).
Thank you all for reading
