I was raised in Long Island by a successful music teacher of a good public school. I went to Manhattan School of Music and placed out of all initial classes by passing entrance exams. My fields of expertise are all aspects of orchestral repertoire, and also include music history, theory, composition, ear training, dictation, and AP Music Theory preparation.
As a performer on Classical Trombone, I can also teach trombone, euphonium, trumpet, and piano.

Ear Training

Ear training is often one of the most difficult skills to learn as a musician. I began learning music by ear at a very young age. I excelled through the different courses and skills quickly and have been helping my peers since before high school. I have the tools to easily teach this subject as well as some tricks to make learning easier and actually fun to do. For singers, this skill is a must. Since your instrument is your voice, having complete control is a great skill

General Music

The music that is woven through today's society provides a very intricate role. As a musician who began performing at age 3, I always notice the music first. Every movie, every commercial. It is enjoyable having the knowledge to identify the music that surrounds your life each day.

Music History

The music schools which I attended offered in depth courses on the history of music. I began tutoring at the college level since 2001. I find History to be a very interesting part of the evolution to modern music of today. I own and recommend the best books and sources for teaching and learning this field. From Renaissance to Jazz, and from traditional African tribal music to pop music (Britney Spears, Beyonce etc.)

Piano

Piano is my second of 3 instruments studied in depth from the age of 3. I focus my studies on Bach Beethoven and Mozart, but love more modern works of Part, Glass and Scriabin as well. I have been tutoring piano in ages 4 through 30 for last 10 years. I am very familiar with the NYSSMA competitions and fully prepare all those who wish to play for NYSSMA.

Sight Singing

Sight singing is an important role in any musicians education and progression in their field. Especially for singers, the ability to hear a note and sing the correct pitch helps to learn music in many ways.

5 years studied in Juilliard Precollege and Manhattan School of Music. 4 Years of study at the Manhattah School of Music, studying with memebers of the MET opera orchestra and NY Philharmonic and top freelance musicians in NYC and around the world; Some of the teachers would include Dave Taylor, Joe Alessi, Steve Norell, Per Brevig, David Finlayson, James Markey, Phil Meyers, Tom Smith, Christian Lindberg.

Trumpet

I teach beginner to advanced Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba and Baritone instruments. My experience of performing comes from the top conservatory music school of Manhattan. Teaching experience comes from teaching privately as well as teaching Band at the high school advanced and beginner levels.
