If you're feeling despondent about your latest chemistry
course- don't. I pride myself on being able to teach General, Organic, Inorganic, Analytical and Biochemistry
to the layman. Whether you're a High School beginning chemistry student, or a college Senior in Organic Chemistry
, you'd feel comfortable letting me tutor you.
I have a B.S. and M.S. in chemistry, from Middle Tennessee State University, and did my master's thesis in NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) on a 200 MHz spectrometer with a superconducting magnet. I have also worked on a vast array of instrumentation with most of my experience in HPLC (High Pressure Liquid Chromatography), GC (Gas Chromatography) and GC/MS (Gas Chromatography/Mass-Spectrometry) AA (Atomic Absorbtion) etc. So my strength is in analytical chemistry, i.e. what is present and how much.
I have taught as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) while in Graduate School. Here, I was responsible for the setup and instruction of Physical Science
and General chemistry labs. Experiments include basic chemical reactions, stoichiometry, pressure-volume relationship, mass-mass problems, kinetic theory, electromagnetic spectrum, basic radioactivity and the scientific method etc.
Later, I taught more advanced labs in Organic chemistry. I was responsible for the setup and instruction of experiments such as infra red, nuclear magnetic resonance, organic synthesis, gas chromatography, spectral interpretation, and teaching of basic lab techniques.
Classes at Dowling were three different Physical Science
classes, i.e. taught 3 NSC2004 intermediate science courses (Natural Science Systems for non science majors). We covered topics of environmental consequences such as air pollution, nuclear power, renewable energy, global climate change, basic chemistry etc.
Everyone of us has struggled on abstract and abstruse problems, but through perseverance and years of hard work, I have the gift of being able to communicate basic and complex problems to an entire spectrum of chemistry students. Look to me for encouragement and let's work together on those complicated problems.
