I have three years of experience teaching English as a second language (ESL)and literacy skills to children and adults. Additionally, I have experience tutoring middle school and high school students in Spanish and math. I am very comfortable tutoring multiple students at once but also enjoy providing individual instruction. I engage students in active learning by making learning fun. For example, I have made reviewing Spanish vocabulary into a game, and have created original board games to practice speaking skills. I have found that these methods can be much more effective than traditional instructional methods. I encourage students to ask many questions and help make difficult material less intimidating by providing simple but comprehensive answers. I also have experience mentoring university students performing poorly and helping with time management, study strategies, and organizational skills.
I graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience and a GPA of 3.89. Since I grew up in New York, I have experience taking Regents exams.
