Hello,
My name is Allyson and I am currently a kindergarten teacher. I have been trained in a literacy program, which I teach daily to a small group of children. This program focuses on phonics, beginning sounds, phonemic awareness and letter recognition. I use data to create lessons and differentiate homework. I also create five weekly literacy centers, ranging from skills in blending, sentence building, and letter recognition. I pull-out a small math group on a weekly basis and focus lessons on data. I enjoy teaching through a variety of manliputives including blocks, flash cards, songs, linking cubes, puzzles, using a dry erase board, technology, and play.
I formally taught pre-school at a Montessori school. I designed and implemented lessons for three, four and five year olds. There I learned to teach through hands-on lessons and songs. I also provided care/tutored for two adopted boys with special needs. I enjoyed teaching them through lessons based on their interests and out door play.
I completed and passed a background check upon becoming a NYS teacher in July 2012. A copy of the document can be given to the client upon request.
