I am a New York state certified reading and special education teacher with a background in fine arts. My teaching experiences include assessment and remediation of reading and learning disabilities with students from primary grades through adulthood. I have also taught replacement classes in Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Life Science. I have been trained as a dyslexia specialist and certified by IMSLEC (International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council).
I worked for ten years as a learning specialist in New Jersey, during which time I consulted in an elementary school, instructed teachers in Orton Gillingham methods of reading instruction, and ran my own tutoring business. Currently, I am completing my last semester of coursework in the doctoral program of the School of Education at Binghamton University.
