Throughout my academic career at St. John Fisher College, I have gained a considerable amount of experience as a chemistry tutor. I worked for the Office of Academic Affairs, who would send me certain students for either 1-on-1 or group tutoring that were struggling with the class material. I began tutoring organic chemistry to other undergraduate students two years ago. As time went on, I expanded my tutoring to include both general chemistry and physical chemistry. I strive to help students in any way that I can whether it is oral explanation, written explanation, or visual illustration through the use of a model kit. I have found that it is extremely useful to not only help a student understand the material, but to show him/her how to apply it and guide the application.
During my sessions, I bridge between concepts and related material to help the student make connections. My students often find that they can take a concept I taught them in organic and then be able to apply it to other chemistry classes as well. I believe it is important to expose students to different ways of thinking in order to help them become more effective in all their academic endeavors.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemistry

I am a biochemistry major that graduated St. John Fisher College with a 3.91 GPA. One of the areas that I continually excelled in was General Chemistry. I received an A in General Chemistry I and II, and General Chemistry Lab I and II. I also tutored general chemistry for 2.5 years at Fisher.

Fitness

Fitness is my life. I was a three-sport athlete (soccer, basketball, and track) throughout junior high and high school. I continued on to play collegiate soccer for St. John Fisher College as an outside midfielder while juggling my schoolwork as a biochemistry major. When I stopped playing soccer for the school, I became a routine weight lifter and sprinter. I am constantly reading about techniques and ways to increase my strength and speed. I am in very good shape and plan to improve and/or maintain for the rest of my life.

I believe that fitness is one of those things that is best learned through personal experience. I am well-versed in endurance, burst, and hybrid training as well. I am also an avid reader of fitness and weight lifting. I have read many journal articles, books, and studies on weight lifting and other fitness activities that have effectively shaped my own efforts and people that I have helped reach their goals in the past. In addition, I a big believer in supplying one's body with the specific foods needed for optimal performance and recovery.

Nutrition

I have been an avid reader of nutrition since my freshman year at St. John Fisher College. It all started when I wanted to get into the best shape of my life and add a substantial amount of muscle mass to my frame. Early on, I realized the importance of sound nutrition and became a strong advocate of the phrase, "the more you know, the more you grow". I have read many nutrition books including Fat Burning Kitchen, The Truth About Abs, Maximize Your Metabolism, Nutrient Timing: Metabolic Optimization for Health, Performance and Recovery and many more. As a biochemistry major, I also understand (in-depth) the intricate processes of human digestion and absorption to a tee. In my nutrition class at St. John Fisher, I received the highest grade in the class with test grades of 92, 98, and 100.

In addition, I practice what I preach. I currently eat six meals a day, which allows my body to remain in top shape. I have also given nutrition advice to many friends who have either used it to gain muscle, lose fat, a combination of the two, or simply to improve their well-being.

Organic Chemistry

I am a biochemistry major that graduated St. John Fisher College with a 3.91 GPA. When I took Organic Chemistry I and the corresponding lab, I received an A- and A-, respectively. When I took Organic Chemistry II and the corresponding lab, I received an A and A, respectively.

I also have 2.5 years of tutoring experience that I attained at St. John Fisher College. I tutored General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry. At the height of my tutoring career, I was averaging about 24 hours a week. I enjoy tutoring and have a lot to offer in the science realm.

Great Tutor! — Was very responsive and was also available on short notice for however long you needed him to be. He was also very patient and understanding of my questions. Even if I did not know how to articulate what I was confused about, he knew where my thoughts were going and answered my questions. He also was able to show me different ways to view something in order to understand or remember. Once he was d ...
