I recently graduated from SUNY Cortland with a BA in Adolescent English Education (a high school English teacher). I am taking my last certification test in April and will then be a NYS Certified English Teacher for grades 7-12.
Student taught at East Syracuse Minoa High School and Lafayette Junior Senior High School. I created lessons which motivated students to learn and become self-learners. Guided students with tips on organization and study skills as well as implemented assignments which allowed students to discover and understand concepts in an exciting and new way. I used many different forms of assessment to be sure students understood concepts and information before moving on. I made lessons relate to students and offered help after school when needed.
I love helping students on their journey of learning and experiencing life. I love working one-on-one with students because I am able to personally connect with them and tailor lessons to help fit their personal learning needs. I am willing to put in extra time and effort to be sure the students are benefiting from my lessons and motivated to learn on their own.

Will be able to help students prepare for the ACT English portion of the exam by offering students vocabulary, grammar rules, writing tips, and reading tips. Students will complete mini-quizzes and have small assignments to complete on their own to illustrate their understanding of concepts covered. If more help is needed, I am able to meet the students individual needs by assessing what they are struggling with and making assignments to best help in that area.
Will tutor students in reading to prepare for the ACT Reading portion. Will provide students with vocabulary they may come across and how to read for context, information, and purpose to better understand the passages as well as the questions being asked on the test.
Can create motivating lessons which encourage students to see language as a tool for communication. Students will be able to read, write, listen, and analyze as they become familiar with rules of grammar, context, communication, etc. I create lessons which focus on the students needs in particular and take the extra time to assess all work and spend more time on areas where the student struggles.
