Bonjour! Here is a resume of my qualifications not only in teaching, but in French language and second language acquisition.
I graduated from Nazareth College Of Rochester in 2005 with an undergraduate degree in French and a minor in Anthropology. I enjoyed studying foreign language so much that I deceded to return to France and obtain my masters degree from Université Rennes 2. This is a very competitive language school where all students are expected to have an exceptional grasp not only of the language they are studying, but also of abstract concepts such as language theory, advanced grammar, evolution of language and spatial/temporal relations that affect how an interlocutor expresses him or herself.
Spending four years in France not only gave me a deep understanding of the language, but also of the culture. It helped me relate language to people and gave me a stronger desire to become a teacher. While obtaining my masters I had to opportunity to work in three different high schools as an English teacher. It allowed me to study and emulate the French style of teaching and see how other cultures learn. The language department realized my proficiency in language and so I was also hired as a part time instructor to teach French grammar to French students during the summer, even though I'm sure they would have rather been doing something else!
Upon my return to the US I was hired as a full time French teacher at Christian Brothers Academy where I was in charge of students from grades 7-12 as well as advanced placement. This proved to be very rewarding and I was able to use what I learned to have a 90% pass rate on Regents testing as well as a 100% college acceptance rate.
However, my life is not all work! I go to the gym four times a week as well. I also enjoy reading, playing soccer and listening to music. I am well organized, motivated and truly enjoy teaching. If you would like to learn the French language in it's many forms, please feel free to contact me! Merci et bonne journée!
