To summarize my education: I currently have three undergraduate degrees which include: (1) A.S.S in Business Administration, (2) B.S. in Accounting, as well as (3) B.S. in Finance, along with the expectation of completing graduate school with (4) a M.S. in Accounting by the end of 2015. There is also the possibility of a PhD in either Accounting or Finance to complete my years of dedication towards the enhancement of my education.

While attending college I was a student assistant responsible for three sections of managerial accounting consisting of over 100 students a semester that required additional assistance in the course. The position only required reviewing homework problems with students when needed, but I felt the need to go above and beyond the schools expectations. What set me apart from other student assistants as well as teacher/graduate assistants was the dedication I put into preparing my own customized lesson plans, practice exams, PowerPoint presentations and detailed notes reviewing the courses concepts and theory for students to take home and use as additional resources. I have lectured up to 30 students at a time, with the ability to cover an entire semesters worth of material in just three sessions. Each session would normally run for about 3.5 hours, which included two 15 minute breaks allowing the students to stretch their legs, get a drink or snack, or whatever else they may require. Overall the sessions ended up averaging out to a total of only three hours of actual lecturing.

The SUNY New Paltz: School of Business has an additional graduation ceremony for its students and I will always remember what took place the night of mine. Towards the end of the ceremony, Dean Hadi Salavitabar unexpectedly prepared a speech to acknowledge all the hard work that I have contributed to the school during my enrollment, mentioning the amount of students that have "Aced" their exams because of the dedication I demonstrated and expressed his appreciation and sincere thanks on behalf the entire institution.

Over the last five years while attending college and working part time at an accountants office, I have also been a private tutor for students that needed additional help with several other business courses. Those courses were primarily accounting and finance oriented, but also consisted of courses such as operations management, strategic management, as well as Business Decision Support Systems which covered Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

The years I've spent teaching and tutoring demonstrate that I have the patience and professional experience required to ensure that every student I work with obtains the type of results and commitment equal to the standards expected from a college professor. I will always take the time to create a customized lesson plan for whatever subject a student requires assistance with and break it down so it is easy to for them to understand. The main goals I have as a tutor/instructor are to make sure that every student comprehends and retains the material covered, are confidently prepared to apply those concepts to their examinations, as well as demonstrate how the concepts are related and used in the real world.

I never move forward in my lessons until both the student and I are confident that they are ready to move onto the next topic. I understand that when it comes to learning new concepts every student is different, so the pace of my sessions are based around the student not me. A session could be as short as 90 minutes or it could long as 3 hours, it varies with each student but the end result it always the same. They will leave each session feeling more confident and having a better understanding of the material before they arrived. My reputation which my previous students will confirm is that when a session ends I am always willing to spend additional time free of charge, if that’s what it takes to achieve the desired goal planned for that day.

Overall I have a genuine love for teaching along with my passion for helping others. Ideally I'd like to become a college professor and I am currently taking the steps to reach that goal. I have a proven success rate and recommendations from students.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to schedule a session or have any questions you wish to discuss. I will normally respond within 12 hours if not sooner, upon any inquiry sent to my WyzAnt email account.

I look forward to the opportunity of working with and meeting any and all individuals that are looking for extra assistance with their studies!

Regards,

Matthew S.
