Welcome to my new students! I would like to tell you about myself as it relates to you. My education credentials include an MS in Secondary Science Education from Hofstra University, an MA in Exercise Physiology from Adelphi University, and a BS in Biology from SUNY Stonybrook. I have experience tutoring and teaching students in middle school and high school for West Hempstead School District (2007-2010), for Creative Tutoring Inc. (2008-2010), and am currently working with students from my local school districts.
The teaching approach I use with my students is as individuals and I assess their needs accordingly. In that way, I am able to find out their strengths and weaknesses, and address them one-on-one. I am extremely effective in the areas of biology, anatomy, physiology, earth science, ecology, environmental science, marine biology and forensics. My strengths also include algebra and trigonometry. When I am with a student who is having difficulty grasping a scientific concept, I experience such joy when they have the "aha! moment" of understanding. I also pride myself in engaging them in a deeper understanding of their school curriculum. They will grasp why it is relevant and practical to their world. In other words, they finally know the answer to "Why do I need to know this?"!
