I have been with the NYC Department of Education for 27 years. I teach Social Studies/Humanities in a high needs school. I have developed a teaching style that is based on explaining concepts in terms that correlate to the lives of my students. In my classes I emphasize comparative analysis in forms of government, philosophy, religion and culture. In the area of essay writing, we begin with a simple format. As the student progresses, the format becomes more sophisticated. Despite the fact that we are a neighborhood school, not a specialized, my students have consistently exceeded the NYC passing rate on both the US and Global regents exams.
