I am a professional with 16 years experience managing the accounting records and training staff of both small and large companies. I completed my BBA in Accounting while working full time and managing my household. In doing so my husband and I instilled our two boys with a strong work ethic. I completed a Masters in Accounting and Financial Management a dozen years later. This online experience allowed me to develop a level of written communication skills that my professors as well as my employers could appreciate. I also earned 113 credits towards a Liberal Arts Degree at Queens College right out of High School. I majored in English Literature and minored in Education.
As a tutor I believe it is important to communicate high expectations for the success of all students, regardless of age, race or socio-economic background. I believe all students can succeed. It is often a challenge to ensure that the classroom climate and curriculum is supportive and responsive to all students. No matter what the subject, students should be provided with an academically challenging curriculum that includes attention to the development of higher level cognitive skills. I encourage students to share attitudes, concerns and aspirations. If students have their own views challenged, it encourages the critical thinking and reflective judgment that will serve them well throughout life.
