Anatomy

I have a Masters in Human Biology and taught a college course which focused on anatomy. While pursuing my graduate degree I took a course in Gross Anatomy, which involved the full dissection of a human cadaver. In addition I have worked as a teaching assistant for similar courses in Human Anatomy.

Anthropology

I am proficient in the study of anthropology, most notably in physical or biological anthropology and cultural anthropology. As a college student, I maintained a 3.9 GPA within my major of Anthropology and Archaeology. I have taken undergraduate and graduate courses on the following topics related to anthropology: General Anthropology, Physical Anthropology, History of Anthropological Theory, World Cultures, Paleoanthropology, Bioarchaeology, Human Osteology, Paleopathology, and Forensic Anthropology.

This past year I worked as an adjunct college instructor, teaching six courses that focused on Human Osteology with a forensic component. I have also tutored and aided in instruction of several anthropology-related courses as a graduate teaching assistant.

Over the past 4 years, I have traveled internationally to do fieldwork in Kenya and Rwanda, Africa, which lends to some of my practical experience in the field.

Archaeology

I have a substantial amount of academic and practical experience in Archaeology. As a college student, I maintained a 3.9 GPA within my major of Anthropology and Archaeology. I have taken undergraduate and graduate courses on the following topics related to archaeology: General Archaeology, Historical Archaeology, Archaeological Field Methods, Bioarchaeology, Historical Geology, and Physical Geology, in addition to participating in a 6-week archaeological field school. This past year I also worked as an adjunct college instructor, teaching a courses in Crime Scene Archaeology and Environmental Evidence, which involved utilizing archaeological methodologies.

Over the past 7 years I have also worked as a full-time and part-time field archaeologist. I have conducted excavations of both prehistoric and historic sites, predominantly in Indiana as well as Pennsylvania and Florida. My job responsibilities included recording all observations, collecting artifacts, creating details site maps, and cleaning and cataloguing artifacts.

Microbiology

As a graduate student, I was a teaching assistant for 7 separate courses in Clinical Microbiology. I prepared laboratory sessions for each class and aided students in procuring and growing cultures (bacterial samples), preparing microscopic slides, and examining and identifying bacteria under the microscope.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
