I have 17 years of teaching experience from the sixth grade through college, in fields ranging from global history and western civilization to United States history and government. The early focus of my career was in social studies education at the middle and high school levels, including five years teaching in a Bronx middle school. For the past nine years I have been a professor of history at Buffalo State College, where I teach courses in United States, global, and European history. I am permanently certified in secondary social studies education in New York State, and experienced in preparation for New York State Regents exams, as well as the History and Social Sciences section of the New York State Liberal Arts and Sciences Test.
Through age and skill-appropriate reading and individualized instruction, I have excelled at teaching history and social studies to students who do not learn these subjects easily. By focusing on the heart of a given subject and avoiding unnecessary details, most matters of history and social studies can be simplified and made accessible to any audience.
