Hello! I am available for tutoring in Biology, Geology, Earth Science and Physical Science. I have been teaching at the college level since 2010 and I have an undergraduate degree in Geology from UB. There I studied earth science, geography, biology, math, chemistry and physics. In graduate school I took advanced classes in biology and microbiology.
I love working one-on-one with students or in small groups. When I'm teaching I like to break the concepts down into workable parts, provide instruction, then have time for guided practice with the students and then let them try it on their own. I'm a really big fan of project based learning and differentiated instruction. Learning by doing opens up deeper understanding and a more likely chance of you remembering the material.
I'm passionate about teaching and learning. I joined WyzAnt so I can increase my opportunities for teaching. I believe everyone can learn. I incorporate multiple intelligences into my lesson. During our first meeting I will assess the different ways you learn through a survey. Following the results of the multiple intelligences survey, I will be able to tailor our learning experiences to your unique learning styles. By working in this way I am able to maximize your learning and make the learning experiences more fun and valuable.
Recently earning my certification to teach the Living Environment in grades 7-12, I will be working on my Earth Science certification next. I have completed an autism awareness workshop, a child abuse seminar, The SAVE seminar and mandated reporter training.
I have experience tutoring in Excel, statistics, earth science, physiology, anatomy, organic chemistry and physics. I enjoy a wide range of topics and am always ready to help you learn!
