Hi there! Welcome to my site. I am a NYS certified Biology
teacher. I have been teaching science
in various forms since 2010 and tutoring since the beginning of 2012. Since March of 2013 I have been working with special education and special needs
students of all ages and subjects.
My teaching and tutoring experience includes algebra
, biology, earth science
. I've tutored many students in those subjects as well as taught them on the middle school, high school and college level.
I'm currently working with students who have Autism
. My experience comes from working in classrooms with kids of all ages and abilities, spanning the broad range of the autistic
spectrum. In addition to hands on experience I've taken a number of formal trainings to understand and work better with the kids' autistic abilities.
I like to get to know my students, what their learning styles are, how they learn and study best and what their goals are to really complete the tutoring sessions. It's important to personalize the experience. Finding out how you understand material and what kind of connections we can make to help you remember the material is one of my key goals.
I've been fingerprinted by NYS, went through the child abuse seminar, SAVE seminar, mandated reporter and autism training. I have certifications in Earth Science and Living Environment.
I really enjoy working with all of my students. Your success is my job. I look forward to working with you!
Tutors have the ability to create educational resources and share them with the WyzAnt community.
Here are some of the resources created by Kate.

I wanted to take a moment and thank all the students and families I've gotten to know over the last few years through tutoring. It's been great getting to know you and your children and I'm glad I've been able to help them!
Here are some easy things you can do to keep your brain sharp and material fresh while you are on winter break...or having a snow day!
Review your notes, quizzes, tests. Look the the diagrams. Be able to explain the diagrams to your mom, sister, or friend.
Check out videos on youtube about a topic you're having trouble with. Can picture how DNA is replicated...
I hope everyone is staying warm inside today on this snowy snowy day!!!
Midterms are coming up in the next few weeks and I hope you are all creating a study schedule to work on material. Breaking up the material into small chunks every day will help you conquer the work and not feel overwhelmed by the last 4-5 months of material!
Just think - you learned all...
