1. To parents:
I love to be with children and I am a unique kind of teacher. With my child-oriented style and fun personality, I always get children excited about everything. I have my Master's in Educational Psychology. I am also a certified elementary teacher in English in Taiwan. I have 6 years of teaching experience with children aged from Pre-K to 10 years old, including 2 years at Just for Kids, the Before and After School Program in Williamsville (08/2010-05/2012) and 2 years at Buffalo Chinese School (11/2012- present). I also have more than 5 years of teaching Chinese. I have been teaching children from Pre-K to 4th grades, high school, college students, and adults. My students love to learn Chinese and the parents are very happy as well.
2. To adult students:
In 2009, I was hired as a teaching assistant for the Chinese Program at the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York, teaching college students in very interesting ways until now. Two of my students got the admissions to Chinese Program in Beijing. In 2010, I was also hired as a Chinese language teacher at the Buffalo Chinese School, teaching children aging from 4 to 10 years-old, with an ethnic/cultural diversity population. One of the parents even dropped the class from the Chinese School and asked me to be her daughter’s tutor because she agrees more with my teaching philosophy and thinks that my teaching style is very unique and interesting, which is the key point making her child’s motivation learning Chinese. I also tutor adults. With only two 60 minutes lessons, my student made a big progress in tones. He states that my class is organized, interesting. This is because I always make accommodations based on what he needs every single minutes.
Indeed, all of my students have no trouble learning and speaking Chinese. For each position, I not only build excellent relationships with students by successfully applying theories in the field of Educational Psychology, but also build great relationships with my students. The series of courses of Diversity in Education I took help me in working with both students and parents, as they think I understand them very well by viewing the world from their perspectives. Teaching language is my passion, and I always take my job very seriously, knowing that learning a second language is very important to the country, and learning Chinese as a second language is the one of the most importance.
