I worked as a Writing Center Tutor in George Mason University's writing center for a year specializing in working with ESL students within the ESL Opt-in Program. I am experienced in tutoring undergraduate, graduate, alumni, faculty and staff of the University, within a variety of disciplines from science reports to english essays. I am comfortable working one on one focusing attention on large scale writing issues and also editing and proofreading. I graduated from Colorado State University with a double major in English: Creative Writing and Anthropology with an archaeological and biological focus. I also have a minor in philosophy, so I am able to help with philosophy. I attended graduate school at George Mason University for writing with a teaching assistantship, so I am also qualified to teach composition. I also worked at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum as an archaeology intern working on my own faunal analysis and zooarchaeology based project, as well as worked 2 full field seasons, one in Kenya focusing on Homo Erectus/human evolution and one in Colorado focusing on North American archaeology, so my experience is diverse! I'm a flexible tutor and love to hear what each student wants to achieve out of each session so we can work towards that goal together. If a student is unsure of what he/she may want to accomplish at first, that's not a problem, we can work on things together and set targets on our own! My expertise are within writing, essay writing, reading comprehension, ESL tutoring, and archaeology/evolution.
I am qualified to be an anthropology tutor because I studied anthropology as a double major in my undergraduate studies. I have also completed two academic field seasons in archaeology/anthropology working within different anthropological disciplines. I also worked as an intern for 7 months at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in DC in the Human Ecology and Archaeobiology department working with world leaders in anthropology.
Archaeology was my focus within Anthropology during my undergraduate studies. I've completed two academic field seasons, doing real archaeological work. I participated in Koobi Fora's field season excavating 1.5 million year old footprints. I also worked in Colorado doing North American archaeology working with a variety of time periods at a variety of sites from paleoindian sites to historic homesteading sites. I also worked as an intern at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in the Program for Human Ecology and Archaeobiology doing zooarchaeological analysis and my own faunal analysis, documentation, and reporting project.
