I am an uncommon educator with an uncommon background serving uncommon students. Having spent the last five years working in District 75, I have firsthand knowledge of how far teachers must stretch personal boundaries to meet the needs of unique learners. In District 75, the mantra is: “One size fits none” ergo I approach my students’ individual academic experience from a “do whatever it takes” perspective to seek the best possible outcome. Regardless of your learning style, I am friendly, open, honest and genuinely committed to helping you achieve success in whatever area you are struggling in.

I began my teaching career in 2005 as an instructor for the JET Program, creating original English curriculum to students aged Elementary to High school in Niigata, Japan. Given leave to create and plan my own lessons, I was able to raise student achievement and motivation with adherence to each school’s standards for excellence.

As a New York City educator, I have dedicated my career to raising student achievement and broadening the scope of their academic experience. I am an alumni of the highly selective Teaching Fellows Program and received my junior training in Automotive High School, designing test prep lessons for Regents students.

In terms of enrichment, I am a member of a New York based Japanese dance team and have instructed students in this unique and high-energy style of dance. I have employed district-based techniques such as CASTA and EASE to improve my practice and develop effective behavior management techniques. Colleagues approach me frequently for assistance and advice on behavioral plans for challenging behaviors. I have created and adapted ESL lesson plans for English language learners as well as differentiated units across a variety of content areas including, but not limited to, Math, ELA, ESL, Vocational studies and Health Sciences.

I look forward to meeting you and becoming a part of your academic journey!
