I am a passionate lover of languages. I have studied the Spanish Language for eleven years up until high school. When I got to college, I was not required to take a language due to my extensive study of the Spanish Language in high school. However, I was accidentally enrolled in an Italian course with an amazing professor, and I never missed a semester of Italian ever since. In fact, I graduated CUNY Hunter College with an Undergraduate major of Italian Language and Civilization and Hebrew Language and Literature. I am currently doing a Master's at CUNY Hunter in Italian Literature.
I firmly believe that for some, learning a language can be very difficult. I would like to tutor Italian in a way that is fun, memorable and a one of a kind experience, such as the experience I had when I first took Italian in college. I would like to teach grammar, but I would also like to incorporate culture, fun activities, a great deal of student participation and the freedom to write based on what you have already learned choosing your own topic to guide you.
While I want the student to learn the grammar perfectly, I also want the student to have the freedom to learn at his/her own pace choosing topics that make him/her comfortable first. I would like the student to bring in items, posters, pictures, foods related to the topic that is being discussed and in relation to the vocabulary learned at the time, and I would like for there to be a great deal of oral communication as best as he/she is able to express himself/herself. I do not believe in an extremely strict approach to learning a language. Rather, if the student is able to learn the language while having fun, he/she will remember it for a long while afterwards and come to enjoy learning the language.
I am a very creative, bubbly, fun person and I promise to make this an extremely fun and intellectual learning experience for the student.
