Math should be fun! Sometimes teachers seem to forget that and it just becomes a very tedious and painful process for students. I strive to make sure that my students not only understand the difficult math concepts but become excited about excelling in math. As a youngster, I struggled because I had a hard time understanding the fundamentals. My goal is to make sure that your child has a strong foundation on which to build and in turn build their confidence so that they can tackle any math problem that comes their way. While obtaining my Structural Engineering Degree from CCNY I tutored several college level students in Mathematics and Applied Sciences. Additionally I tutored several elementary and high school student in Pre-calculas, Geometry, Algebra and English as well. As a Josh & Judy Weston Public Service Fellow I also volunteered with National Dance Institute assisting and supporting teaching artists in exposing children to all forms of dance. Through this work I cultivated patience and really adapting to needs of each student.
I have an insatiable passion for math and always approach each problem as a fun solvable puzzle. I understand why many students struggle with math because as a youngster I struggled as well and needed someone to really understand and address my particular needs. Thus, I am highly qualified to tutor in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 & 2 and Geometry and specialize in making these principles easy to understand and retainable so that the student no longer feels threatened by the terminology but becomes confident when approaching these types of homework or exam problems. Once we make sure the fundamentals are in place I use repetition to further solidify the work so that these types of problems are a breeze for the student.
