My love for teaching comes from my passion for personalized learning. I understand that every student is unique and needs to be taught in a way that puts them in a position to succeed. I have worked previously as a substitute teacher, an elementary school after school program coordinator, a tutor for two private tutoring companies, and a project manager for an education technology startup. I love being a tutor because I am able to help students realize their potential, improve their test scores and grades, and get into the college of their choice.

I am originally from Northern California and I graduated from Stanford University with degree in Biology. When I am not teaching, I like to spend my time watching Stanford athletic events, traveling, and seeing friends.

I specialize in all subject matters that aspiring pre-meds need to know in order to succeed - Math, Biology, Chemistry, and anything related to science. My goal is to teach each student how to approach every problem they face, deconstruct those problems, and make homework and test questions mechanical. With the skills that I teach all of my students, they will be prepared for any challenge.

I am willing to travel to meet students where it is most convenient for them, otherwise, I can meet students at a coffee shop in the NYU area. NYU students be sure to ask about my student discount.

If you are looking for a tutor any time, any day of the week then I am well suited for your needs. Additionally, if you are in college and need help with Organic Chemistry (premeds!) I am well suited for that as well. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Baseball

I have played baseball since I was 4 years old, throughout my youth and up until high school, where I received two varsity letters for baseball. I played all positions - outfield, infield, pitcher and catcher. During high school, I helped organize and provided instruction at a baseball camp for little leaguers.

CBEST

I have a BS in Biology from Stanford University. I completed my substitute teaching credential in California. I passed the CBEST exam. I have over two years of tutoring experience.

Elementary (K-6th)

As a graduate from Stanford University, I have mastered the ability to study for tests, write papers, and complete problem sets. Additionally, I have worked for two tutoring companies, teaching numerous students how to properly study for each of their classes. I have also worked with elementary school students, teaching them math skills.

Genetics

I graduated from Stanford University with a BS in Biology. I completed all of the pre-med requirements in order to attend Med School. In order to complete the Biology major at Stanford University I completed one introductory Genetics course and two upper division Genetics courses.

Macintosh

I have used Macintosh computers my whole life. I am very comfortable teaching others how to use Macs and have taught many family members how to use Macs and other Apple products. I enjoy working with technology, learning new technologies and teaching others how to use those technologies.

Organic Chemistry

I graduated from Stanford University with a BS in Biology. I completed all of the pre-med requirements in order to attend Med School. In order to complete the Biology major at Stanford University, I completed three Organic Chemistry labs, and six other Organic Chemistry courses (two were BioChemistry courses).

Study Skills

As a graduate from Stanford University with a BS in Biology, I have mastered the ability to study for tests, write papers, and complete problem sets.

I have extensive experience working directly with students on their studying skills, as a tutor for two tutoring companies in Palo Alto, CA and as an after school math teacher for elementary school students. When working with these students, I was able to instill in them the three key skills that I believe allow a student to study effectively: organization skills, diligence, and resourcefulness. Over the course of a few lessons, I found that all of my students studied much more effectively, resulting in better test scores and improved grades.

Patient with a holistic approach. — Austin is very patient with my 10 year old who is often tired by the time his 5pm lesson rolls around. I've seen improvement in my son's math confidence and mastery of topics which were challenging just 6 weeks ago. Austin also takes the initiative by reviewing homework for other subjects at the end of their time together. ...
