For as long as I can remember, I have been a voracious reader and an avid learner. I love to help young people develop their own passion for learning!

I recently earned an Honors BA in History from the University of Rochester, and I spent my entire junior year abroad at the University of Oxford, where I studied European history and journalism. During that year abroad I had the opportunity to travel to more than 15 different countries, including India, Russia, Hungary, and Finland.

My extensive experience working with children and teenagers includes:

- Six consecutive summers working as a swim instructor. I utilized Red Cross lesson standards while also designing my own lesson plans, inventing games for teaching new concepts, and engaging students ranging in age from 3 to 14.

- Two years volunteering for Partners in Reading, an elementary school tutoring program. I helped first- and third-graders develop reading and writing skills.

- Two years working for Upward Bound, a high school tutoring program. I assisted high school students with completing homework assignments in History, English, Algebra, and French. I also tutored students in SAT and ACT prep, and helped them write and revise college application essays.

I achieved a perfect score (800/36) multiple times on both the SAT and ACT Reading sections.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I achieved a perfect score of 36 on the ACT English section, numerous times. I also have more than two years' experience tutoring high school students in English, including ACT prep. I took English classes at the University of Rochester and the University of Oxford and have been a lifelong avid reader.

College Counseling

I was selected to attend the University of Rochester as a Renaissance Scholar, meaning I was in the top %1 of applicants to the university, based on my essays, extracurricular activities, grades, and interviews. I received a full-tuition, four-year scholarship to the University.

As part of the Renaissance program, I served during college as a student ambassador for visiting high school students. Working closely with admissions staff, I hosted students, gave campus tours, and answered questions about the university. I gave presentations to parents and admitted students about the benefits of student research grants.

As a college senior, I was invited by Rochester admissions staff to serve as a member of the interview panel for the incoming class of Renaissance Scholars. As a member of this panel, I gave holistic assessments of incoming students based on their paper applications, essays, and in-person interviews.

I also have experience helping students write and revise college application essays and decide which colleges to apply to, as I worked as a high school tutor for Upward Bound for two years.

European History

I earned an Honors BA in History from the University of Rochester. My concentration was European History, and I completed an Honors thesis in the subject.

I studied European History at the University of Rochester and the University of Oxford, and have traveled to countries all over Europe, including France, England, Scotland, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Slovakia, Hungary, Finland, Russia, and the Czech Republic, where I soaked up history firsthand by visiting museums and historic landmarks.

Reading

I achieved perfect scores on the ACT and SAT Reading sections, numerous times. I have more than two years' experience tutoring high school students in English, including helping students to develop reading skills. I also have more than two years' experience tutoring elementary school students in reading. I took English classes at the University of Rochester and the University of Oxford and have been a lifelong avid reader.
