I enjoy working with all types of students--regardless of the background knowledge. I am a very patient, detail-oriented tutor who is committed and dedicated to making sure each and every one of my students make progress in their areas of weakness and further improve in the areas of strength.
I specialize in tutoring Chemistry, Statistics, Nutrition, Biology and Psychology, but am willing to teach other subject matters as well. I have earned a PhD in biological psychology in Feb of 2013, and a Masters in Nutritional Sciences in Aug of 2005. Experience as an instructor in statistics, human nutrition, learning, and biological psychology in a college classroom. I am an expert in the use of SPSS and Microsoft office.
I strongly encourage student/parent feedback and take it very seriously. Will not charge for a lesson in which a student is not completely satisfied. I have a quiet study area in Mill Basin of Brooklyn, but I am willing to travel to a different location that is more convenient for a student.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in all of your studies and endeavors!
I have been a lecturer for a statistics course at Brooklyn College's Psychology Department for one semester, and a teaching assistant for a statistics course lab for another semester. I am very comfortable with SPSS and Statistica software, as well as teaching it to the students. I used statistics extensively to analyze data in the laboratory where I worked: biological psychology laboratory of feeding behavior.
I have taken a genetics course as a part of my masters degree in nutritional sciences at University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have completed a masters thesis on the selenoproteome--the genes and proteins in all animal species. Had to do extensive genetic cluster map comparisons amongst various species.
I have a Master's Degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University. While at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I was a teaching assistant for the course in human nutrition. I have also volunteered helping a clinical nutritionist at the Boro Park Rehab Center and have extensive knowledge in the nutritional sciences. I am very patient, and enjoy teaching all aspects of nutrition--including chemical makeup of foods, as well as the clinical aspect-weight loss, etc.
I took organic chemistry as an undergraduate at Cornell University, receiving B+ in both lecture courses and an A- in the laboratory component. I then used the knowledge gained from organic chemistry to master the multiple courses I took in Biochemistry at undergraduate as well as at a graduate level, and would be comfortable teaching it.
