Hi there, Students and Parents.
My name is Mohammed and I am an Accountant major in Brooklyn College. I am here to provide for you my expertise in subjects that you or your child faces during the time as an elementary, intermediate, high school student; these subject vary from Math (pre Algebra, Integrated Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre Calculus, Calculus), English grammar, writing essays, reading at a higher level, preparing in test taking, to covering history. I have faced all of those subjects, and have excelled at those classes not by using raw talents, but rather by studying endlessly and relentlessly.
In the past I have tutored at Elementary schools, Intermediate schools, and several Associations in which I volunteered to help enrich the students who were facing difficulties in specific courses. I taught English reading and writing to the Elementary schools- P.S. 170 and P.S. 102 in different after school programs. I also played as a teachers assistant from time to time, and aided in a spelling bee competition. Thanks to these activities, the tutor inside of me sought to come out and I attempted to start volunteering my services to my neighborhood association called the Arab American Association (AAA) where I was a study buddy to certain students who were feeling uncomfortable in the Mathematic areas. I helped some students pick up their pace in Algebra, while others in Geometry, and even a few in Trigonometry for their upcoming regents.
After the process of tutoring in public places, I thought to continue tutoring in private, to which I started tutoring the child of a friend. I helped the child earn his place as one of the top student in his English class by helping him improve his communication and participating skills. Even after some of these activities, I sought to becoming a regular tutor in my neighborhood library- the Brooklyn Public Library. In the library, I was given the chance to hep young adults and students K-8 with their Summer Reading list. As for the young adults, I helped some prepare for their upcoming years in High School, and let them know of what is expected of them during their stay. I was asked to point out what are essential in High School graduation, and I did, since I myself graduated H.S. with an Advanced Regents Diploma, I let the students know what is the best decision for the most successful future.
Since I have listed some of my experiences, I assume it's time I reveal some information about myself as well. To start off, I can let you know that I am a calm and easygoing/ level headed person, and a honest one at that; Though I can be completely serious and focused when the time comes that an education is at risk, I like to take my work quite personally. I assure you, weather you be the student or the parent, I will do my utmost best to take care of you or your child. I understand that a elementary/ intermediate/ high school student such as you or your child may go through overpressure from work load and lack of understanding, but with the right help, it may not be as tough as it sounds. Sure school is tough, but with the right model student as a friend to help, one can achieve unimaginable heights.
I am qualified to tutor an Elementary (K-6th) level, because I have past experiences teaching and taking care of children around that age during the time I volunteered at a after school program in my neighborhood elementary school (P.S. 170). I have helped students with their core subjects such as English/ History/ Computers, and Mathematics. Not only did I volunteer at the after school program to teach students and gain experience, but I have also helped out at an Intermediate School (I.S. 30) during which I took the request of a former teacher in helping 6th grade students overcome English vocabulary and also Math problems.
I believe that teaching our future young generation may lead to much improvement of our world in the future, and I would very much appreciate to be part of it.
I believe I am qualified to tutor students in preparing for their Regents exam, because I, myself have the firsthand experience in taking most of the regents offered in High School. During my years in H.S. I have taken the majority of the regents offered and graduated with an Advanced Regents Diploma by scoring a 91 in Integrated Algebra, English- 92, Geometry- 98, Social studies (Global & U.S. history)- 94, Trigonometry- 90, Living Environment- 90, Earth Science- 91, Chemistry- 88, and Spanish as Foreign Language- a 85.
I believe that although the regents can catch students off guard, it is less intensive when a student is thoroughly prepared and understands whats coming. In the past, I have taught High School students in preparing for their Geometry and English regents in an association called the Arab American Association; but that's not where it ends, because I also remember giving out tips to potential students about the English regents while I was tutoring students for summer reading in my neighborhood public library as a volunteer.
I hope, with this amount of experience, I am eligible to partake on this tutoring session. Thank You.
I have been a tutor for my neighborhood middle school and elementary after school programs for 4 years now. Every summer, I participated in one on one tutoring to help the youths understand and comprehend the basics of writing. The majority of these students varied from ages eight to thirteen, and it was very fun and exciting time to teach them.
