I graduated from Brown University in 2008 and began tutoring shortly thereafter. In my five years as a professional tutor in New York, I have worked with students from East New York to Bay Ridge, from Westchester to Harlem, from Brooklyn Heights to the Midtown Trump Tower. I have logged countless hours tutoring Math up to Algebra 2/Trigonometry, all levels of English and writing, and standardized test prep including the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SHSAT, and SSAT. I have extensive experience working both independently and with companies like Academic Advantage, Private Prep, and Signet Eduction. I have also run several workshop-style classes for high school seniors focused on the Common Application's personal statement. While I have experience with students from age 6 through 18, my primary area of expertise is with high schoolers - specifically SAT, ACT, and College Application guidance.
Beyond working with students, I am a playwright, actor, and illustrator; in 2011, I founded a theater company that has since produced two of my original plays, and I am currently illustrating a book to be published in March 2014. My background in Theater heavily informs my tutoring style: I strive to make each session a dialogue focused on inspiring the student, rather than a lecture meant to simply dump facts on his or her head. This way, the strategies, tactics, and techniques I impart become relevant, personal, accessible, and even fun.
