I’m Brooklyn College senior, majoring in Psychology, with a concentration in education. I expect to graduate on September 1st, 2013. I am an aspiring guidance counselor and current Youth Facilitator at an after-school program. I work for a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing quality education, and teaching leadership and career building, to diverse individuals. All of which, I help coordinate.

I also coordinate community service activities with middle and high school students. I enjoy spending quality time with my large family, cooking, home improvement projects, Pilates, aerobics, promoting healthy lifestyles, exploring new ventures, traveling, mentoring, teaching Step, ballroom dance, hip hop and African dance pieces. I’m accountable, assertive, caring, cheerful, clear-sighted, trustworthy, well-reasoned, eloquent, creative, resourceful and eager to work collegially with clients and colleagues of widely diverse ages and cultures.

I’m proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint. I am also well versed in working with smart phones, routers, networking computers, gaming consoles, installations, and wiring. I am fluent in English, and learning Spanish.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. Ballroom Dancing

I teach basic ballroom to middle school students. I have studied Ballroom at Brooklyn College and at Dance With Me NYC.

In addition, I'm fluent in rhythm and smooth steps, such as Salsa, Cha cha cha, Tango, foxtrot and Swing.

Career Development

For the past 5+ years, I have worked with middle school and high school student equipping them with leadership and life skills. Navigating students through the process of applying for schools, selecting a major/minor, learning about financial aid opportunities, exploring and choosing the right career based individual strengths and goals. As well as recommending programs and activity to keep the students current and focused on their career path including resume and cover letter workshops.

Elementary Math

I am a recent graduate with a Bachelors in Psychology and for the last 5+ years, I have worked at an afterschool program tutoring students from elementary, middle and high school in various subjects including Math, ELA, Science, Arts, and created lesson plans for each as well as coordinated Leadership and Life skills workshops.

Fitness

I am a recent graduate with a bachelors in Psychology and for the last 5 years, I have worked at an afterschool program tutoring and creating lessons for elementary, middle school and high school students in Math, ELA, Science, Arts, as well as coordinating Leadership and Life skills workshop.

Early this year, I began instructing an aerobics and Zumba class. I researched information, created lessons and fun-engaging workout routines, I attended professional classes and used my health background to tie in good nutrition. It was a successful class that benefitted all my participants.

Yoga

I have been taking Yoga classes both at the gym and as a course at Brooklyn college for several years. I was hired to teach yoga and aerobics to middle school students this summer.
