I am an honorably discharged US Army veteran working on Business Admin. and Clinical Psychology, PhD's. The first year's work is already complete and tutoring is a means of self support as I pursue these terminal degrees.
My academic interest ranges from philosophy to psychology; from reading to writing; from grammar to vocabulary; and from spelling to comparative religion. Therefore, it is an understatement to say I love learning.
I am the author of two books on the subject of Metaphysics sold at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and other bookstores. Therefore, results oriented skills are at the forefront of my abilities and I have used these skills to the benefit of my students while teaching special education as wells as a tutor.
It is a truism that special education teachers can teach any general education class, but no general education teacher is qualified to teach a special education class. The skill to analyze and diagnose student difficulties in reading, writing and/or processing information is at the core of what I, as a special education teacher am professionally trained to do. Consequently, I am qualified to teach any student that falls within the range and scope of my professional training.
Your child may need to improve his/her reading, math etc. and it is wise to hire a tutor that can meet your child on his/her skill level and then assist your child in developing the required skill set. In other words, regardless of the subject in which you are interested, hire a tutor that gets results. This is what I do and I can assist you or your child in achieving amazing results.
I have told you a bit about myself, not in self-aggrandizement, but to highlight my educational philosophy that what I have achieved is nothing compared to the achievement of my students.
At one time in my life, up until the fourth grade, I was a special education student myself. However in those days it wasn't called that. The teachers always wrote, "Room for improvement", whatever that meant. Join me!
I possess an Education MSE, concentration in special education. the only additional state requirement is tech full time at a school to retain my certification.
I possess an Education MSE, concentration in special education. the only additional state requirement is tech full time at a school to retain my certification. Autism falls within my field and training.
I have over 41 years experience playing basketball. I have played for my high school, junior high school and military C Co, 121 Sig. of 3AD stationed in Frankfurt Germany. I am 6'3", 195 pounds, and at at age 52, I still don't miss a free throw or a jump shot within 15 feet of that basket. Anyone can learn the mechanics of the game, but to be truly good at it takes heart.
I am an intermediate level chess player. I have played the game since age 13, that's over 40 years of experience.
Remediation of Dyslexia is one aspect of learning disabilities that I have been prepared to remedy. I have taught children who are Autistic, Dyslexic, unable to read and write. My professional training has prepared me to remediate learning disabilities of all types.
My NYC certification was in Special education, specifically learning disabilities. I have taught grades 1 - 12 in the NYC public schools, specifically JHS 265 in Fort Greene Brooklyn. My training as a special education teacher is specific to grades K - 12 and remediation of learning disabilities.
Marketing was a required course in attaining my Business Administration, BS. In at least two companies for which I worked in the past, those skills were are necessity in performing my job. in my present company, Globexports CARICOM Inc, I am responsible for all the marketing of our products to an international clientele.
I am an author of books on Metaphysics. I have extensive knowledge of of the Christian religion, having read the Bible (King James & Douay versions) from Genesis to revelation. I am also a student of the Hindua Bhavagad Gita, and the Muslim Koran. I am of philosophical mind, so I have also read portions of the Upanishads, Zend Avesta, and the Books of the Dead, specifically, the Tibetan, Egyptian and Hebrew.
I was born in Trinidad and Tobago. In Trinidad— like Brazil, Argentina and other warm countries—football is not American football; it is soccer. I have played this game since I was knee high to a grasshopper— in other words, it is in my blood. To beat a defender takes practiced skill. To educate one's feet and body to know how to shake an opposing defender, and to switch acceleration and rhythm are talents that the smallest child where I grew up, knows how to do. To approach an individual with the ball, to pass them and leave them scratching their heads— thats what its all about.
I possess an Education MSE, with special education concentration. My primary training is to provide remediation for students K - 12, learning disabilities. I have been also trained to write IEP's for the special needs population, as well as to assess them.
I am an MCNY five (5) times dean's list recipient and my final cum. gpa is 3.8 rather than 4.0 because I transferred credits from my previous school SUNY at Stony Brook. In graduate school, out of 21 classes I have 19 A's and 2 B +. I have proven that I know how to study and I bring those skills to the table when I teach, teaching my students to do the same.
I have more medals and trophies from my high school track and field career than my mother knows what to do with. I specialize in the 100m, 200m, 4 X 100m relay distances. The mechanics of running is in my genes and it comes naturally. Strength exercises and endurance/stamina training can help with running; but if the person has a natural stride and the will to win, then that is something they can work with.
