Philosophy:
The foundation for a good student is a thorough personal understanding of their subjects. In the longterm, the benefits of this implicit confidence knows no bounds. This is what I aim to inspire, as well as an ability to sail through the tests, of course. Maximizing comprehension, analytical and creative writing, understanding of cultures, grammar, vocabulary, proofreading and presentation skills are essential in building and focusing confidence, and for finding personal success in any aspect of your life.

Practice:
We will begins our sessions by discovering where to apply the most immediate learning and developing a strategy around this plan. We will start using familiar or unfamiliar material and the student's own personal passions to tap into new strengths and bolster existing ones. This might be reading old favorites (books, magazines, song lyrics, assigned school texts, classic works) or entirely new literature. It could also involve writing reviews of the aforementioned sources, or practicing various public speaking exercises. Particularly during the summer months, with consent and supervision, I can take classes and experiences outside of the home with field trips. This is a practical approach to ensure that a student understands the subject from every angle and also understands how the subject plays a part and adds values to the rest of our lives. Furthermore, we will implement systems that a student can use, within their own timetable, to create discipline and independent time management. These study skills can last a lifetime and provide an outstanding backbone to all of their endeavors.

The important thing here is to create an entirely personalized learning program; why else have a one-to-one tutor? If there are specific requirements for a student, I will focus our time on this given area. The path to results may be hard, but success can shine through quickly.

Biography:
I have been a private tutor of English and Drama for friends and family in London, Denver and New York City, for young village people in Malawi, and for as private students at the Kamuzu Academy, the "Eton of Africa." I graduated from the University of East Anglia, the UK birthplace of the Creative Writing programme and a pioneer in American Studies. I spent one year at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and took a broader range of courses including Feminist Film, Cuban Studies, Performance and Sociology. Since then, I have been a successful non-profit arts manager, working with some of the most prestigious companies in the world, including the Royal Opera House, National Theatre and Manhattan's official cultural district. In addition, I have performed Off-West End and directed plays here in New York City for various groups. This season, I hope to work on a 5-borough-wide production with Theatre for a New City.
