First of all, I’d like to give you my background. I have a bachelor’s degree from Yeshiva University and an advanced health science degree from Case Western Reserve University. Along the way I’ve taken many mathematics and English courses, and have some experience tutoring children (besides my own!) in these subjects. Currently, I’m employed teaching students one on one at the university level.
My approach to tutoring is to be warm and unpressured. I find positive points to praise in my student in order to build up his or her self confidence. I also try to discover where my student’s weak points are. By concentrating on those as early as possible, the rest of the subject matter will come along much easier. As I get to know him or her better, I tailor my teaching methods to fit that student individually since everyone learns differently and can progress best through a customized approach.
