My name is Mihir. I am a licensed secondary social studies teacher in New York City and New York State. I have 4+ years' experience teaching students in low income/high needs areas. I have taught Global History, U.S. History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English, World Literature, and American Civil Rights. I have experience designing individualized lessons and curriculum for students of all abilities. I have experience developing a literacy framework for high school students including a progression of skills from 9th grade to 12th grade, which is currently being used in the school in which I teach. I am currently the leader of my school's Inquiry Team, which is responsible for analyzing data from student work to provide the school with a clear path to increasing student performance and achievement.
At the University of Southern California I had a passion for studying economics and history. I studied abroad for a semester at the University of Queensland, Australia. I also worked with high school students in college as a tutor and a volunteer in the Best Buddies program, which paired college students with mentally and physically disabled students as part of a community building initiative. I worked as a part-time tutor for elementary school students for 6 months as well. In high school I attended the International Baccalaureate Program and earned an International Baccalaureate Diploma. I participated in Cross-Country and Tennis as a varsity member for four years. I also participated in Academic Bowl, Math Team, and Mock Trial. My current areas of interest and passions include behavioral economics, modern physics and cosmology, history, politics, technology, sports, current events, and of course education.
