Hi,
I am Shanell and I'd like to extend a warm welcome.
I graduated from Plattsburgh State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Journalism and a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications-Broadcast Journalism. I specialize in reading, writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, public speaking, acting, communicating, cooking, singing and that's to name a few!
I have dealt with people from all walks of life and I pry myself on making a positive impact on everyone I meet. I've worked in the customer service field for more than five years, and it's an absolute joy meeting, helping and working with new people. This however, is my first professional tutoring experience, though I have tutored in the past and I welcome you, as well as the opportunity.
As a high school student, I've worked with attorneys for my involvement in Moot Court competitions and the Lincoln Douglas Debates, and my passion for public speaking continued on well into college. I've performed in plays, written plays, worked as a copy editor for my college's newspaper; editor-in-chief of the yearbook; disc jockey (DJ); news director of the college's radio station; camera operator for the television station; floor director and I've performed with the college's chorale and gospel choirs for a combined four years. I've also interned at MTV and PBS, and throughout the duration I've had the opportunity of meeting singers, actors and politicians, as well as learning the art of discretion.
My tutoring method is simple: finding out where your child is lacking and then using the proper methods to help combat the problem. I believe that everyone learns at their own pace and what works for one student may not work for all. Students sometime need someone who is intuitive and can spot his or her problem, and creative enough to be able to use objects and real life experiences to help the individual understand the material as is.
I am that person who goes above and beyond, using precise communicative skills to help individuals not only to understand the work, but also to believe in him or herself in the process. I treat each person equally. I believe that with an extra boost of confidence and a little extra time, everyone starts to see and believe in their potential. Give me the opportunity to give you proven results of your child's abilities and cognitive strength!
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best wishes.
