Hello! Reading is a Joy! I should know since I grew up spending my free time in libraries from Washington, DC, to NYC, California, and Paris France. Childhood was a reading extravaganza, an adventure, of learning, travelling through books into a foreign world of fun, romance, history, drama, and knowledge. The library was a special place of discovery, a golden sanctuary where the books on the shelves held stories that I knew would transform my life and they did! To experience and enjoy these new worlds I had to KNOW how to read, vocabulary, grammar, and concentration, focus, interests, creativity, all play an important role and it starts in the kindergarten. This is a journey to a new world one can only reach through the reading skills that will move them forward. My passion is books! Literature, authors, writing, stories of past and present have kept me forever linked to the world of the written world. Happily, I have been given the opportunity over the past ten years to share that with enthusiastic readers in the NYC book store I worked at. I have also taught foreign students and aided them in English speaking at the International Center in NYC. I have also tutored and taught my own five children and my 5 year old grand daughter over 30 years of developing and guiding them throughout their schooling. My mother was a schoolteacher for over 40 years. Books are in my DNA. The seed was planted in infancy and sprouted into a Redwood tree metaphorically speaking. I would love the opportunity to share this with students and help them experience the Joy of Reading as they explore new territories making their way through the infinite wealth books have to offer!
I have BA in English Lit from NYU and an Assoc degree in Magazine Publishing .I have also worked teaching English to foreign students at The International Center in NYC.Continuing Education courses at The New Scool over the years have added to my educational profile. The past ten years I have been a bookseller at the largest bookstore in NYC Barnes and Noble.
