I am an enthusiastic, experienced, and patient teacher seeking to help others thrive in school. With an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Stanford University, I am proficient in the worlds of math, science, and writing.
I can tutor Chemistry, Physics, AP Physics, all math topics up to AP Calculus, civil engineering, and many computer programs. I am well versed in these subjects from taking these and related classes in high school, undergrad, and grad school. I graduated as the Valedictorian in my undergraduate class, and finished with a 4.0 GPA in graduate school. My academic record shows a deep understanding of the sciences and ability to learn quickly.
I come with seven years of teaching experience and two years of tutoring experience. I recognize that students learn different ways and tailor my style to fit their needs. Valuable skills like pacing of a session, phrasing of feedback, and deconstruction of a subject are second nature to me. I approach problems in a systematic way, an engineer’s method that I offer others to help them break down math problems and find the solution.
I organize my life the same way a project engineer manages real work. I am familiar with productivity philosophies such as Getting Things Done, time-boxing, Pomodoro, and Personal Kanban. Software tools such as OmniFocus, Evernote, MS Project, and MS Excel augment these strategies and improve organization. These systems were developed out of necessity; diagnosed with AD/HD at an early age, I have always struggled with issues of organization, productivity, and memory. I look forward to sharing these coping strategies – which are useful to anyone – and helping others cultivate their own systems to succeed in their academic and professional lives.
