I have a B.S. in Chemistry
, with a concentration in Biochemistry
and a minor in Education. I am working towards an M.A. in Science Education, Biological Sciences 5-12. I have a solid knowledge of chemistry, physics
and earth science
as well as mathematics
Currently, I work as a private tutor helping college, high school and middle school students with chemistry, biology and earth science courses. I have extensive experience working with children as a science teacher. I have worked with middle school students teaching Living Environment and Earth Science Regents
classes to the gifted and talented, as well as traditional 6th, 7th and 8th grade curriculum. I have tutored or taught different areas of science in varying capacities for over 15 years. Students I work with show immediate improvement in their understanding of the subject matter and consequently their test scores. Philosophy
I believe in learning for the sake of learning and I am very passionate about the subjects I tutor. I love working with people and helping them realize their potential. I help my students understand and remember material better by encouraging them to visualize concepts, organize ideas, use of simple but memorable analogies, and of course practice problem solving. I believe in treating students as individuals and creating the best learning environment for each student to succeed.
