I have never formally tutored, but took this opportunity to supplement my income. Many people have urged me to go into teaching, as I very much enjoy helping people, especially young people. I am the proud father of eight children and a number of grandchildren.
Over the years, I tutored and mentored my spouse and children (and one child's spouse). I assisted my children to negotiate school from first through graduate schools in diverse subjects. That required a great deal of patience.
One child is now graduating in Nursing Psych from Columbia; several children and one of their spouses, I tutored in the first year of law school (Brooklyn Law and Fordham Law, respectively). So far two out of three have passed the bar (on the first time). My daughter in law graduated from Fordham Law summa cum laude (law review, etc.). One son is graduating soon. I taught law to CPA candidates and have worked as a proofreader in top law firms. From time to time, I have substituted in elementary schools. I prefer one-on-one tutoring.
To help my special child, I needed to review the subject matter over a hundred times. I tried every pedagogic technique I could find, until my son successfully learned the subject. Thus, my attitude is that I have not succeeded unless my student (child, etc.) has succeeded.
I am an expert English, Law and Financial proofreader and proficient in science and law. I have helped my children in virtually every subject where I had knowledge. I often proofread and copy edited papers, etc. for classes. I will not write their papers. I have copy edited one son's technical writing for two blogs.
I received an excellent education at a superior public high school and two public universities.
In addition to my work tutoring law, I can help you or your child, especially from K to 12 (though, I must admit that the chemistry that is taught today is not the same that I learned in College).
