My name is Elizabeth, and I may be the ideal tutor for you!
I recently graduated from RISD with a Master's degree in Printmaking (I majored in printmaking/painting as an undergraduate student at Alfred University and minored in Art History), and I worked for a year as a teacher for the New Canaan Country School, and have recently been teaching at Alfred University, my alma mater. As part of my work, I tutor students in Art (printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture), Art History and college portfolio preparation.
Besides tutoring, I also have a lot of work experience as a teacher and art editor in educational publishing. I have experience with students of all ages, including extensive experience with high school seniors entering college.
In general, I favor a "hands-on" approach to teaching that involves a lot of interaction between the tutor and student, and concrete experiences that involve making things. However, my specific methods vary according to the subject being taught and the learning style of the student.
I look forward to hearing from you!
