Great day parents, students and guardians,
You have found a great tutor for your student. I am patient, creative, consistent and I truly understand how to teach my content area, mathematics
. I am a middle school mathematics teacher and have been for the past 12 years. I enjoy watching my students' thinking wheels begin to turn and brain bulb illuminate. They're thinking, learning, questioning; they're creating their own knowledge and understanding of the task at hand. I believe in teaching math
through manipulatives, real world experiences and Art
. It is my goal to give my students all the tools they need to understand and persevere through any math task they're given. I am also a NYS Common Core Fellow. Thus, I am very well versed in the New York State Common Core Learning Standards in mathematics.
I began tutoring in 2006. Once I begin working with a student or group of students I usually stay with them until they've graduated from high school. It's a really wonderful feeling of accomplishment.
Lastly, I am the proud mother of a New York City High School Advanced Regents
Diploma graduate. My son is now in his second year of college studying to become an architect.

Participated more in class
ignored the disruptive kids
asked more questions in class
I would have been the model student. Algebra was HARD. I didn't get it, I mean really get it, until my junior year of HS and that...
Let's face it "most" people really do not understand the language of Math and this is why you often hear people say, "I don't like math" or "I was never really good at math". Mathematics is a language of and unto itself. If you understand the language, then
you understand the content. If you understand the content, then the processes become a piece of cake to learn...
