My name is Manuel F. and I'm excited for the opportunity to help your child grow academically and socially!
Over the past four years, I've had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students in individual, small group, and whole group settings. As a result, I have gained practical experience in building lesson plans that engage different styles of learners. I currently hold a valid Teaching Certification in 7-12 Spanish, but for the past two years, I have worked as K-1 educator at a local public school in Brooklyn teaching all core subject areas. Although my certification is in teaching Spanish, I have worked for several tutoring organizations and privately tutored high school students on a one to one basis in Math (K-6, Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry), English Language Arts (phonemic awareness, reading comprehension, writing techniques) and test prep (NYS Math, English and Elementary Regents). I also work with students to improve their organizational and study habits.
My greatest strengths include helping students become active and reflective learners in their own growth. I believe in cultivating a challenging and nurturing learning environment where students engage the learning process with constant curiosity and without fear. In addition, I enjoy challenging students to become independent thinkers, who consider alternative perspectives, with enjoyable learning activities while taking into account different learning styles.
