My name is Beulah K. and I have been tutoring for the past three years in the New York City metropolitan area. I have worked at a local tutoring service where I tutored students from K-12 grades, and gained understanding about different cultures, as well as students' different learning styles. I am a self-starter,open-minded, patient, hardworking, and trustworthy. In addition, I communicate very well with students and parents, and I have a way of making students feel relaxed and comfortable, especially at the first tutoring session when some students tend to be somewhat shy and nervous. As soon as everyone is relaxed, I inform the parent that the student will first be given a diagnostic test so I will know what he/she knows and doesn't know. The test results allow me to focus on the weakness of the student, and work on those areas that are problematic.
I also experience that during the course of the tutoring, parents would show me their children's report cards, which indicate great improvements. These students have even excelled in city tests. I still receive phone calls from former parents who still keep me informed about their children's progress.
